WHAT IS your ya horror novel THE DEAD HOUSE ABOUT?
The Dead House is a young adult horror novel about the truth (?) behind events leading up to a boarding school tragedy, told via the diary and video footage of a girl who doesn't exist. It is a paranormal horror, a found-footage horror, an epistolary novel, and a psychological horror.
Is there going to be a sequel to teeth in the mist?
Yes! The sequel is coming in 2023. Be sure to follow my instagram for updates.
CAN YOU READ MY BOOK? HOW ABOUT SOME FEEDBACK?
Sorry, no! Most authors can no longer do this. But I do recommend getting some good critical feedback. If you can find a critique group, that may work for you. Having a supportive and encouraging community is priceless.
CAN YOU SHOW MY WORK TO YOUR AGENT?
Unless I truly believe a manuscript is the bees knees, and that my agent will love it beyond measure, I don't give referrals. My agent is just too busy, and reading is very subjective.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO WRITE A BOOK?
It really depends. Two of my books I wrote in a month (bad first drafts). The longest took 13 years.

WHAT IS YOUR ACCENT? I CAN'T PLACE IT!
That's okay, most people can't! I'm a bit of a hodge-bodge because I grew up all over and moved so much. It's mostly British, with splashes of Africa and everywhere else.
HOW DO I PRONOUNCE YOUR NAME?
Dawn. Ohhhhhh, you mean my surname? Exactly like it's spelled, and with a hard "g" like "golf". Kur-tah-g-ich. (“gich” like “witch”)
IS THE DEAD HOUSE THE FIRST OF TWO?
The Dead House has a sequel novella available digitally. It is called “Naida” or “The Naida Tapes” and you can find it here and here.
I want to listen to the audiobook but i can’t find it!
The audiobooks for The Dead House and And the Trees Crept In are only available in the US, but the audiobook for Teeth in the Mist is available worldwide.
HOW MANY BOOKS DID YOU WRITE BEFORE THE DEAD HOUSE?
I wrote about five, although one of those books I’ve re-written 23 times. I. Know. But practice makes better.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW?
At the time of writing (November 2022), I have handed in the sequel for Teeth in the Mist (it still has many rounds of edits to go), and two adult novels. 2022 was busy!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK?
Tough question! I've started putting together a Pinterest board of exactly that: Books I've loved. You can find it here. One that I always state is my favourite comfort read is Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Mariller.
